Just let me post those Ashes records again

James 'Jimmy' Anderson
P39 W11 D8 L20
117 wickets @ 35.97

Shane Keith Warne
P36 W24 D5 L7
195 wickets @ 23.25

I suspect losing 20 Ashes Tests is a record for a player

stewie is just hurt from Foakes wanting to level up in life.

You will probably find he'll be the same with Dan Lawrence this year.

;-)

He's the only proper gloves man in that touring party, stewie, that's for sure

Re: 5 Test series : India v England
I think the obsession Stewie is that he is a keeper... he looks like a keeper... behaves like a keeper... moves like a keeper... ctaches like a keeper... stumps like a keeper... so fucking what that he's given away a few byes when the ball has been scuttling along the ground (last test)... I like JB... although his days might be numbered... but he aint and never will be a top class keeper... Foakes is.

Oh and I'll take the blame for that session... woke up and saw the score and thought lovely will see Creepy get a well deserved 100.... by the time I'd sorted the ferrets out 6 wickets had fallen... too be fair Kuldeep for me is bowling like the best bowler in the series... great control for a wristy

Re: 5 Test series : India v England
Foakes averages 29 and has conceded 24 byes in the last two tests. If Buttler or Bairstow had done similar, people would be having a meltdown. Obsession with him is just bizarre.

Anderson has been our best seamer by a very wide margin in this series - although Wood has form for turning up in dead rubbers so there's time for that to change - and bowled much quicker than Robinson in the last test, which is frankly pretty embarrassing for Robinson. He'll go on as long as he is needed, which - apart from a poor summer - he still is. And when he gets to 708 in less balls than it took Warne, there'll be plenty of tears from our resident LOLstralian.

"Think they have finally realised Foakes is head and shoulders the best keeper and as good a batsman as the rest."

I wouldn't put it past the selectors to pick Bairstow instead. It's still very much jobs for the boys.

Bairstow's 100th Test is likely to be his last when Brook returns in the summer and wouldnt be surprised if Anderson just hangs on for 11 more wickets to go past Warne on 708 and then calls it a day.
There a few in the wings and maybe it will motivate Robinson to get properly fit

Re: 5 Test series : India v England
Foakes just needs 25 more runs to keep his aggregate score above fatty Bairstow and strengthen his case to keep the gloves when Brook returns in the summer

Australia beat NZ by 172 runs to retain the Chappell Chappell Trophy.
7 Test wins in a row against them and 1 defeat in 32 Tests over the last 30 years.
Nathan Lyon with 10/108 goes past Courtney Walsh to 7th place on the Test wicket takers list with 527.
McGrath ahead of him on 563 then Broad on 604
Will OBVIOUSLY be shooting at 605

The dead 5th Test in India starts at 4am this Thursday with India leading 3-1
100th Test for J Bairstow I believe

Re: 5 Test series : India v England
Given the freak conditions in India its often hard to judge performances on a ploughed field which means you pick sides that you wouldnt field anywhere else in the world.
Or get into a situations like this 4th innings where England give Anderson 3 (THREE) overs when trying to win a match.

That said England got into decent positions (better than decent in Test 3) and then slid to defeat.
Probably doesnt mean a lot for the upcoming summer and future series in PROPER conditions.
In the summer you might/may see ..
Foakes finally becoming the permanent keeper
Bairstow making way for the returning Brook
One of the younger spinners being given a run of Tests and Leach being jettisoned
Someone having a word with Anderson .... almost at 700 and in sight of Warne's 708 and might be allowed to reach those before being tapped on the shoulder for Wood, Robinson and others to take over

"we also won 7 sub continent tests in a row." If we only won 1 test in the last 17 pre Bazball, not sure we could have done, in that period.

Re: 5 Test series : India v England

we also won 7 sub continent tests in a row. Wheels only came off when we single handedly kept cricket moving during covid and had to rotate the team to give people time out of bubbles.

Stark reality is that we failed to win the ashes at home, we have just lost 3-1 in India - which is exactly the same as the previous regime (although the failure to win the ashes at home was two regimes ago), and we're second from bottom in the world test championship. Not much has changed really.
